The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament held during NeSA18 will be preceded by a four-week Summer Bootcamp with professional coaching and academic certification.
While Finland is becoming a global forerunner in eSports education, Nordic eSports Academy – organized annually by Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK) – takes this year another significant step towards bringing eSports into mainstream education.
The 4 week eSports-themed Bootcamp will run from 11. June to 5. July 2018 in Kajaani, Northern Finland – culminating in a 3 day CS:GO tournament with a 10 000€ prize pool.
Everyone over the age of 16 interested in gaming and eSports can join for 2 or 4 weeks of lectures, workshops and professional coaching from the top eSports experts in Finland. The coaches during NeSA17 Bootcamp included recognized names like eSports psychologist Mia Stellberg and retired CS:GO professional Ville “cisu” Leppälä.
Bootcamp participants will receive, along with up to 10 ECTS credits, English-given lectures and workshops covering a wide range of topics: psychological coaching, physical coaching, the eSports Business world, Player testing & metrics and hand-on coaching. The educational content has been designed to be applicable to all games and genres.
The 4 week Bootcamp reaches a climax on Friday, the 6th of July with the beginning of the 3 day CS:GO tournament held at KAMK campus. Bootcamp participants will have the chance to participate and experience the tournament and play against the best Finnish teams. 8 amateur teams from the Bootcamp will be formed and compete. Pro teams who wish to participate only in the 10 000€ CS:GO tournament can go through free online qualifiers, which will be announced in February.
The Registration period for the Bootcamp and the CS:GO Tournament will open on Thursday 15th February. The bootcamp will have 100 available places for participants to join.
