What do you get when you combine 10 large cargo containers together?
If you are lucky you may end up with a delightful small restaurant and coffee bar called “Cargo” in Helsinki’s “Hietalahti Quarter” at the end on Bulevardi.
Cargo was established some 2 years ago by Kristiina Fekete and Anni Eskeli who were determined to find a new and more interesting vegetarian all-year restaurant. It is an exceptional place for high quality food and drinks.
As you can see from the above photograph, it is one of the few restaurants in Helsinki with an outside summer terrace. The interior is a cosy modern and relaxed place to enjoy breakfast or lunch.
Rebecca helps Kristiina serve serve up breakfast, lunch and “Lehmus Roastery” coffee and tea, organic wines and energising juices made by the barista – so you can plonk down your Mac and enjoy a few hours reading, writing or talking with friends.
The food is vegetarian with a spin – the servings are generous and reflect seasonal produce with an excellent kitchen.
Their wine selection is mainly organic and vegan, the organic beer is on tap and other beers and ciders are also available in bottles. Other drinks and energy packed juices are made there from a wide selection of fruits and vegetables.
Cargo serves breakfast from 8am each morning and lunch is from 11am to 2:30pm on weekdays and from 10am to 3pm on weekends!
You can get to the restaurant easily from the city centre with trams number 6, 7, 8 and 9 heading towards Jätkäsaari. You can also hop on a bike or walk using Baana, and Ruoholahti Metro Station is only 500m away.
