The Finnish political situation continues to show the same developments that have continued for there last year.
The Conservatives manage to hang on with to their hats (20%) but support for the Centre Party, the other big party in the government, has collapsed to some 15% because they are fudging almost every policy. Their leader is totally lost in a haze of muddled mismanagement. He cannot admit that their haphazard policies, the healthcare reform and the New Counties creation, are badly planned and implemented. The media and voters can now see clearly that they just want to hang on to power at any cost. The Centre Party PM just continues to bleat (and tweet) that parties in government always tend to lose support. This is not the case with their bedfellows, the Conservatives – so much for that opinion!
SDP = Social Democrats, Kesk = Center Party, Kok = Conservatives, Vihr = Greens, Ps = True Finns, Vas = Left, Rkp = Swedish Folk, Kd = Christian Democrats, Future Blues = SIN, Muut = the rest
The Social Democrats have moved forward and now enjoy 22% support, by being consistent in their demands in opposition. They have not been too radical or populist, except in the opinion option of the Centre Party…
The Centre Party always describes itself as representing the people – farmers, forest owners and dairy producers – actually they get their cash from the Cooperative Movement and their big companies (Banking, Forestry, Pensions, Retail, Dairy) so you can forget their altruistic election promises to ordinary folk.
Politics, as we all know is politics, so nobody should be fooled by the promises of any party! However, the polls have at last clearly shown how weak the present government is, and it is time for change.
The Foreign Minister, and his colleagues at the Future Blues, have continued to show up as a totally lost group of losers, to use a convenient and appropriate description – they barely register more than 1% in the polls.
Taken together the present government “enjoys” a 36% support from the folk called on the phone by Kantar TNS, the polling company owned by WWP which is short for Wire and Plastic Products = Shopping baskets. This is the company that was run until earlier this year by the disgraced Martin Sorrell. It is interesting that Finnish politicians and media companies watch the data delivered by these media companies! These are the same companies that write the election scripts and help brand the parties. Given that they have usurped these roles of writing political scripts, party branding, and then measuring their effectiveness by monthly polls, it is pertinent to doubt the honesty and robustness of present day politics. Politicians and the media must be crazy not to see this conflict of interest that these companies practice. It would be interesting to know what data they are receiving from the likes of Facebook and Google…
