Brexit – nobody knows what is going on

Ms. May once said “Brexit means Brexit”. These words were prophetic because apart from the circular nature of the meaning of the sentence, there is actually no other meaning being defined, and now some 2 years later there is still no meaning either in the UK or in the EU regarding Brexit.

Junker & Co. keep on stirring up trouble by threats and more threats that the UK must pay €40 billion in compensation and that the “red lines” set up by the UK are all unacceptable. A far as the EU is concerned the UK has become an alien and badly behaved divorcee with whom they do not want to have any relationship after the split up. They have not offered anything constructive like big reforms or other inducements to stop the UK from going ahead with this suicidal move.

On the UK’s side, neither party, the Conservatives or the Labour boys, has any idea what they want and what is going to happen in the coming months. They are arguing over silly stuff without any appreciation of the financial and social chaos they are already causing and which will become much worse later. The only thing they can agree on are the “red lines” which are aimed at limiting some immigration, keeping the Irish border open between the UK and the Republic of Ireland and avoiding being bullied by the European Court of Justice!

The inability to agree on anything in this incredible circus just tells you how hopeless the  leadership is in the UK and in the EU. It is shameful that we have no democratic control from Finland over these matters.

The UK is an important trading partner and a great democratic country (or used to be) that is important for us in northern Europe. Should we just be sitting here and watch this circus carry on as if we have no power over events.

Our Prime Minister and President should be screaming at the EU for this chaos…
